Pike Bay and Holstein have new little LCBO Convenience Outlets and the Province wants more in the area.
It's part of the Ontario PC Government's push to add 300 beer and liquor stores throughout the province.
Until October 8th local businesses in specific parts of Grey Bruce can apply to have an LCBO convenience outlet.
A media release from the office of Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker says 20 communities have been identified as potential hosts for an outlet. They include: Balmy Beach, Berkeley, Big Bay, Ferndale, Flesherton, Hepworth, Holland Centre, Kemble, Kilsyth, Kimberley, Kiowana Beach, Maxwell, Miller Lake West, Neustadt, Oliphant, Park Head, Priceville, Shallow Lake, Stokes Bay and Walters Falls.
In that release, Walker says, “Anyone who is interested is able to submit an RFP.”
Brian Carson, who co-owns the By The Bay General Store in Pike Bay with his wife Sarah, says before his LCBO outlet opened a couple of weeks ago, Lion's Head or Wiarton would have been the closest LCBO locations.
Carson says they wanted a quiet start to get used to selling alcohol but notes, “Word spread around pretty fast with social media and whatnot, so it's been well received so far.”
The Holstein General Store is waiting on its first shipment this coming week (Oct7-11).
Aside from the many full-size LCBO stores in Grey Bruce there are already older existing outlets in Ayton, Chatsworth, Craigleith, Eugenia, Feversham, Tara and Tiverton.
