Local Rotary has donated over $127,000 to the new Meaford library.
The donation from the Rotary Club of Meaford will be allocated to different areas.
$62,000 is earmarked for technology in the Teen Project Room,
$50,000 which grants the Rotary Club naming rights for the Teen Project Room, and
$15,000 in funds from the Club’s two Trivia Night fundraisers.
A media release form the Library says the technology portion of the donation will allow the library to offer new and emerging tech options such as hotspots, podcasting equipment, and new MacBook Pro laptops.
The Rotary Club of Meaford’s 2020 Trivia Night will be virtual this year. It will be held on October 16.
Meanwhile, The Friends of the Meaford Library (FOML) are hosting their Annual General Meeting on Thursday, September 10th at 4 p.m. Rain Date: Friday, September 11 at 4 p.m. outside the Net Shed at Bayfield and Collingwood Streets
They encourage you to bring a lawn chair to ensure social distancing.
Construction on the new library building had been halted as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19 but has since resumed. The opening is still anticipated to happen this year.
