Grey Bruce OPP say the body of a missing swimmer has been recovered from Lake Huron, south of Sauble Beach.
Police began a large-scale search on Sunday afternoon (Sept 13th), after being called about a male in distress in the waves north of French Bay road, Saugeen First Nation.
On Sunday and Monday police used helicopters, boats and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU). They also had the help of three surrounding fire departments and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre run by Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Coast Guard.
The swimmer’s body was found shortly after the third day of searching began today.
OPP say they are not releasing the name of the deceased until after notifying their family.
