Your Independent Grocer store has changed hands in Port Elgin.
It’s now Vanderwerf’s, Your Independent Grocer.
Aside from the brand new sign up at the Independent in north Port Elgin, it’s business as usual as Eric and Cassandra Vanderwerf took over the ownership reins on February 28th.
Co-owner Eric Vanderwerf says there will be no changes made to the store with “great staff and great products,” already on board.
Eric and Cassandra Vanderwerf, currently live in London, Ontario but are shopping around for a home in Saugeen Shores.
Eric says they’ve wanted to move to a smaller municipality to bring up their family, and Saugeen Shores fits the bill.
Eric has been in the grocery business for the last 15-years, and the last five as store manager of the Ingersoll Independent.
Cassandra has been in the grocery business for the last 10-years.
Eric Vanderwerf says he’s seen changes in the grocery business but the foundation basics remain the same.
He says, “We’re always striving to give the best product to the customer and the best customer service that we can provide.”
The Vanderwerfs say they’re very excited to be a part of the community and look forward to getting to know everyone.
