The Kincardine drinking water system’s reservoir is back online and water use restrictions are now lifted.
A release from the municipality says full reservoir repairs have been delayed until this fall and users can anticipate another water conservation period this October.
On April 27th, the Municipality of Kincardine asked users of the Kincardine Drinking Water System to conserve water; on May 2, this notice was elevated to Stage 3 restrictions.
Adam Weishar, Director of Infrastructure and Development, says in a statement, “I want to thank everyone for their compliance to the Stage 3 restrictions while we were relying on the Huron-Kinloss Drinking Water System.”
With water use restrictions lifted, spring hydrant and distribution system flushing will begin for Municipal water systems.
The municipality says flushing will take place until July between 8am and 4:30pm in Kincardine (including Huronville) and along the pipeline to Inverhuron.
Weishar says, “Users may have periods of water discolouration during flushing,” adding, “Household cold water taps may need to be flushed for several minutes and screens or filters cleaned after distribution flushing has occurred prior to using the water.”
