Saugeen Shores Police say a man is facing a number of charges following an investigation which began at the end of March.
Police say on March 30, members from the Saugeen Shores Criminal investigation Branch entered into an investigation in an attempt to locate a man wanted on several warrants.
On May 4, police say detectives attended a residence in the 700 block of Wellington Street in an effort to locate the accused. While on the property, detectives could hear the male screaming from inside the residence that he was in possession of a firearm. Officers proceeded to take cover in the area and soon after, the accused exited a residence and engaged with police. Detectives were able to place the accused under arrest without incident.
Police say a search of the accused upon arrest revealed a fully loaded .45 calibre revolver-style handgun concealed in the accused sweater, a fully loaded .22 calibre revolver style handgun which was concealed in their shorts, bear spray, and a folding knife.
A search warrant was granted for the accused residence and was executed the same day, and police say several firearms, weapons, and ammunition were seized.
As a result, police say the 29-year-old of Saugeen Shores has been charged with the following:
-Four counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
-Two counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
-One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon
-Two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
-Two counts of carrying a firearm, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
-Four counts of carrying a concealed weapon
-One count of assaulting a peace officer with a weapon
-Two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
-Four counts of careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
-Three counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
-One count of possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
-Four counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order
-Three counts of unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
-One count of possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
-One count of unauthorized possession of a weapon
Police did not identify the accused. He was also arrested on his outstanding warrants for the following:
-One count of voyeurism
-One count of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
-One count of public mischief
-Nine counts of fraud under $5,000
Police say the accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody.
