Northern Bruce Peninsula is renewing its agreement to operate the Lion’s Head Shuttle.
During a meeting on May 23, council received a report from CAO Peggy Van Mierlo-West, recommending renewing the agreement with The Golden Dawn Seniors Home.
The shuttle provides transportation to Lion’s Head Provincial Park, Lion’s Head Beach, marina, and the downtown.
“We were very happy last year with the shuttle service that Golden Dawn provided for the municipality,” says Mierlo-West.
The report says in 2022, council approved the implementation of shuttle services by the seniors home, which has had a significant impact benefiting the community in various ways.
“We were able to remove the volume of pedestrians walking up to the Lion’s Head Provincial Park, which was a huge asset for us,” says Mierlo-West.
The agreement between Northern Bruce Peninsula and the senior home was initially for a one-year period, but the home had expressed their willingness to continue to provide the shuttle for the 2023 season at the same rate from the previous year.
The fee amounted to $1,100 for an eight-hour day.
The agreement extends the shuttle service within Lion’s Head to operate from June 30 to Sept. 4.
