After some unseasonably mild weather the past couple of weeks, Mother Nature has a reminder today that winter isn’t over in Grey Bruce.
There’s a winter weather travel advisory for the region — and a snowfall warning for the Bruce Peninsula — as some heavy snow is expected to fall Thursday afternoon.
“The majority of snowfall accumulations may fall within just a few hours due to high snowfall rates. As the snow tapers off this evening, lake effect flurries will develop in its place, along with strong winds gusting up to 80 km/h,” Environment Canada says in its advisory.
Snowfall amounts of 10-15 centimetres are anticipated.
Forecasters say the combination of strong winds and snowfall could lead to reduced visibility and blowing snow this evening and overnight.
“Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow,” Environment Canada warns.
