Bruce County’s Transportation and Environmental Services department starts implementing its Alternate Truck Routes for the Durham Street Bridge as of this morning (Feb 16).
The bridge will be under weight restrictions until the county is able to complete rehabilitation repair work.
The weight restrictions are based on vehicle weight compared to the number of axles.
Advance signage is in place to direct vehicles to the correct alternate route.
At the beginning of this month, council approved the alternate truck routes after hearing an inspection report that assessed the condition of the bridge.
The inspection found that the soffit and girders of the bridge were showing signs of delamination, and there was apparent leaking in the half-joints of the structure.
