The Port Elgin Paramedic Station is nearing completion.
The director for the county’s Paramedic Services, Steve Schaus, shared an update with council this week.
Construction on the new paramedic station started in June 2022, at an anticipated cost of $7.9 million.
Work did see some delays, namely from staffing shortages and post-pandemic supply chain issues, but was able to continue along.
According to the most recent report presented to council on Thursday, the exterior of the building is 95% complete, the diesel generator is installed, and the floors have been sealed in the past couple of weeks.
Schaus says that it’s expected that Paramedic Services will have the building turned over by the builder, Allen Hastings Ltd. by the end of the month, and occupancy is expected to begin toward the end of March.
