Bruce County is launching a new app to help promote tourism in the region.
Manager of Economic Development Jeff Loney says the new app, Explore the Bruce Rewards, is intended to cater to visitors to the county and offer various prizes.
“How it works is once a user downloads the app, the app itself starts to collect points for that user while they visit the various attractions throughout Bruce County. They start earning those points and as they get enough, they can start to redeem them for things like t-shirts, touques, stickers, pins, temporary tattoos, all of course branded with the Explore the Bruce logo,” says Loney.
The app displays a wide array of places to visit across Bruce County, including restaurants, hiking trails, landmarks, and other attractions.
Loney says this is a living app and will be continuously updated.
“Right now there is approximately 200 plus attractions that are there,” says Loney. “We do expect that it will continue to change and update. Those rewards will continually change based on availability and we expect to see things like curated tours and seasonal experiences.”
Users of the app will be able to plan out what attractions and places they would like to visit in the county, with information on those businesses and hours of operation available.
He says the app gives another reason for people to visit the county.
“In particular, it allows those who are visiting to expand what they are doing. One of the core goals of our Explore the Bruce is to ensure that visitors are coming to our area, that they are spending money in our area and that they are supporting the local businesses and the local opportunities that are here,” says Loney.
