The Nuclear Innovation Institute (NII) has a new interim CEO.
Jessica Linthorne will lead the organization with the aim of supporting the clean energy transition and technological innovation.
The Port Elgin based institute works to advance clean energy policy, drive STEM education and trades training, and advance the regional economy.
Linthorne has worked at NII since 2021, most recently as Chief Operating Officer. Previously, she held the role of Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Town of Saugeen Shores.
A release from the NII says Linthorne’s work has been recognized nationally and internationally through multiple awards, including as a top economic development professional in Ontario in 2021. It adds, “She is well connected to the Canadian tech sector and innovation space through past work in Waterloo region, and her passion for networking and peer mentorship has been showcased by Forbes.”
Mike Rencheck, Chair of NII’s Board of Directors and President & CEO of Bruce Power says, “Anyone who has worked with Jessica has seen her passion for leadership and education, and deep knowledge of rural economic development.” He adds, “These attributes will be instrumental as the nuclear sector – and clean energy as a whole – continues its growth here in the Clean Energy Frontier, across the country and internationally.”
Linthorne says in a statement, “It is a privilege to lead this incredible team into the next chapter of the Nuclear Innovation Institute,” adding, “Our team will drive change for the nuclear industry, expand advocacy efforts, increase awareness, and enhance STEM education opportunities. NII’s future will only be limited by our imagination – and we dream big around here.”
The NII Board of Directors is also thanking former President and CEO Bruce Wallace for his service to the organization over the past years, and they say they wish him well in his future endeavours.e
