Arran-Elderslie saw a reduction in fire service call in 2023.
An annual report from Fire Chief Steve Tiernan to be presented Monday (Apr 22nd) to council says they responded to 168 calls for service in 2023.
That’s down from 202 in 2022. They say there was a reduction in calls across all three stations with 42 in Tara in 2023, 58 in Paisley and 68 in Chesley.
The year before, in 2022 there were 51 calls in Tara, 70 in Paisley and 81 in Chesley.
Tiernan says 11 new firefighters were trained and are now responding to calls. Some training included firefighters from all three stations attending Bruce County Fire School in Tobermory as well as Bruce Power for live fire and propane training.
Meanwhile Tiernan says a new portable pump purchased for tanker 94 in Chesley, a new dry hydrant has been installed in Dobbinton, and all municipal defibrillators have been serviced and tested.
The department also created Facebook and Instagram accounts to share information and safety messages and has visited schools and events to spread safety messages.
