Two Bruce County municipalities were recognized at this year’s OBIAA Gala.
The Ontario Business Improvement Area (OBIAA) Awards of Excellence were given to both Kincardine and Arran-Elderslie.
Kincardine and Bruce County received the Award of Merit for the Streetscape and Public Realm Improvement category. The award was given for the response following the downtown vandalism incident in 2023. 11 storefronts were smashed in last June. A 39-year-old Niagara region man was charged.
Arran-Elderslie was recognized with its own Award of Merit in the Communications category for the development of Community Branding Guidelines and Façade Guidelines in Tara and Chesley.
The awards gala recognized the two initiatives that were developed by the Spruce the Bruce initiative.
The county says that the awards in turn also recognize the program’s leadership role in strengthening and promoting downtown physical improvements and revitalization.
