The annual Walk for Alzheimer’s fundraiser is set to go later this month in support of people in need.
Alzheimer Society Grey-Bruce Community Development and Engagement Coordinator Michelle Fleming says the event on May 25, will be held at four locations across the region, Owen Sound, Hanover, Saugeen Shores, and Thornbury.
“We are raising money and awareness to help local families living with dementia and access important services and education,” says Fleming.
She says through the Alzheimer Society, they offer education for people to learn more, deliver support services to over 1,000 families living with dementia in Grey Bruce, as well as recreation programs throughout the region.
The goal for this year is $85,000 and there are currently almost 130 walkers registered to take part as well as 32 teams.
This is one of Canada’s largest fundraiser for those living with Alzheimer’s and other dementia’s.
Registration for the annual fundraiser will begin at 9 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10 a.m.
