The Southampton clock tower is officially ticking away again, and you should be able to set your watch by it.
For months, the clock was stopped at noon while repairs and updating work was done.
Repairs to the 114 year old clock began in March.
For years, the Town had a jeweller who serviced the clock, but as the clock aged, the need to service it and correct the time was becoming increasingly frequent.
A new mechanism for the specialized system is designed to keep the tower clock and the bell system in sync and on time.
The work was pegged at about $15,000 budgeted through the Town’s long-term asset management plan.
