Habit for Humanity Grey Bruce is recognizing one of its members for receiving a King Charles III Coronation Medal.
Gary Varsava received his medal on March 12 after having joined the organization in 2002.
“He has dedicated over 1,150 days at Habitat’s Build sites with the construction team and has served 12 years on the Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce Broad of Directors, including the role of Treasurer,” says the organization in a release.
Additionally Varsava has helped with the construction of 63 habitat homes across the region, and currently serves as a member of the new Critical Repair Program. He has also volunteered to help renovate three Habitat ReStores and the head office in Owen Sound.
“Volunteers who have had the privilege of working alongside Gary over the past two decades describe his commitment as inspiring. Many have joined him at the build sites regularly, gaining invaluable skills in the trades as he willingly shares his knowledge and experience,” says Habitat for Humanity in a release.
Varsava joins over 20 other residents from across Grey Bruce who were presented their medals by MP Alex Ruff at the Sydenham Campus in Owen Sound earlier this month.
