A new home decor liquidation store will be opening next weekend in Downtown Port Elgin.
The Women's Cave has had a strong presence on social media; over 5,800 Facebook followers; and now owner Shawna Gauthier is opening up a brick and mortar store in the former Rabbit Dash location (688 Goderich Street) to meet the needs of her expanding clientele.
“I'm very happy that I started off low-key and slow and worked up from there…I'm glad I did it this way, I got to really know my product this way, got to know my suppliers and I got to realize and understand which suppliers I wanted to deal with in the long term.”
Gauthier has a contract with online furniture supplier Wayfair and liquidates from many other companies.
For weeks she's been creating a space for herself inside the building with the red facade.
“It's a great building with a lot of character that I was able to work with.”
She adds, “I'm able to keep some of the old character of it and modernize it at the same time, to give people an idea of what the product will look like in their home.”
Gauthier says for the foreseeable future the Cave will be open from 10-5pm from Monday-Saturday and 11-4pm on Sundays.
She says she will “adjust accordingly” based-off busy times.
The Women's Cave is pick-up only; with some wiggle-room for elderly customers.
