Saugeen Shores council has approved a contract that will see reconstruction work being done on the North Shore Road and trail.
J-AAR (John Aarts) Excavating of London, Ontario has been awarded a contract worth just over $653,000 for the work, slated to start this Fall.
The work should be completed by December.
The design to be used will extend the slope into the water to maintain a three meter trail along the side of the road.
This trail is expected to be repaved under a separate contract in 2022.
Funding is through a grant with the Provincal and Federal governments,
The portion of the road selected is the southern limit of the area that is showing the damage near Bushwood Lane.
According to a report to council recenty from the director of Infrasture and Development Amanda Froese, “The design includes placing the previously purchased large armourstone along the water’s edge (toe of slope) and then rebuilding the slope up to the exisiting trail and rehabilitation of the area. The end result will have a 3m wide trail beside the existing road, that can be rehabilitated fully in 2022.”
