The Downtown Dig is officially underway in Kincardine, as crews and equipment are now on the scene.
Construction has begun at the intersection of Harbour and Queen Street as part of an immense project that is expected to last until November.
All of the aging underground water and sewer pipes on several downtown streets are being replaced.
The Municipality is also letting everyone know that although work is now underway, the businesses in the area are still open for business.
Sidewalks are still accessible for pedestrian use, and local businesses have also provided options for rear entrances to their shops.
Traffic detour signage is also helping to direct traffic, whether pedestrian or vehicle.
The Lakeside Downtown Kincardine is also running its Downtown Dig Passport program, which started during Blinky’s Bash that took place on March 18th.
The Municipality also says that there are traffic changes that have been made to help with traffic calming and make it easier to access available parking:
– New four-way stop at Broadway Street and Huron Terrace
– New four-way stop at Harbour Street and Huron Terrace
– Harbour Street One-Way direction change – traffic now moves west to east with an exit via the north parking lot to Lambton Street
– Roadside south-facing parking permitted on both sides of Queen Street from Lambton Street to Harbour Street
