The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority has issued a flood watch statement.
It put out the following statement:
“Saugeen Conservation has issued a Flood Watch Statement due to forecast rainfall and high water levels. Caution is advised around watercourses.
Water levels across the watershed remain high after receiving 30 to 50mm of rain late last week. A strong Colorado low is expected this evening, continuing into Wednesday, and is forecast to bring another 30 to 50mm of rain. With high water levels and additional rainfall, localized flooding can be expected on roadways and in low-lying, flood-prone areas. More extensive flooding is possible should the region receive rainfall amounts greater than what is currently forecast.
High water levels, fast-flowing water, and slippery conditions along watercourse banks are extremely dangerous. The public is reminded to stay away from all watercourses and structures such as bridges, culverts, and dams. Municipal and County staff should monitor problem areas and prepare to close low-lying roads. Residents are reminded not to drive or walk through flooded areas. Conditions can change rapidly, and access routes can be cut off quickly.
Saugeen Conservation staff will be closely monitoring the situation and will provide an update if conditions change.”
