Kincardine Council was able to discuss a staff report regarding the housing development for 36 townhome units.
The development site at 8 Golf Links Road, is owned by Bradstones Developments.
The parcel of land is 1.44 hectares.
Neighbours of the property, as well as members of the council, voiced concern over stormwater drainage for the potential property and its permitted access road.
Director of Infrastructure & Development Adam Weishar informed them that “With this particular development, it will outlet to the Golf Links Storm System, so that is a pipe network that conveys flows westerly to the lake.”
He continued by saying that during the design process, they had provided the engineers with the framework for the upgrades to the Huron Ridge subdivision.
“One of the reasons for a stormwater management pond in part is retention as well, so when you get those peak events, that it’s able to store that water and let it disperse over time.”
Neighbours to the property in question raised other issues, including traffic and the clear-cutting of trees to prepare the lot for construction.
No decision was to be made during this week’s council meeting, but it would come back to the council at a later date.
The plans for development were originally approved in 2020, then were appealed by neighbours and sent to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
