This past weekend were the Nordiq Canada Selection Trials at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec, with all the fastest and fittest skiers in Canada in attendance. Julian Smith of Oxenden took part.
On Thursday, January 4th the senior men raced a 1.35 km skate sprint course. Julian placed 9th in the qualifier in a time of 2:53.35 min. He then went on to be second in the quarter final heats, which earned him a spot in the semi-finals. He won his semi, which placed him in the finals. Smith was fifth overall.
On Saturday, January 6th the senior men raced a 10 km classic individual start. Smith was 11th in a time of 25:37.3 min.
On Sunday, January 7th the senior men raced a 20 km skate mass start. Smith finished 19th in a time of 55:16 min.
