The Municipal Accommodation Tax (MAT) revenue numbers for South Bruce Peninsula in 2023 are in.
A staff report to council Tuesday says Town collected MAT fees of $492,458 in 2023.
In 2022, the Town collected about $411,000.
$208,804 will go to the South Bruce Peninsula Municipal Accommodation Tax Association for promoting local tourism.

The tax applies to accommodations of 30 days or fewer and includes hotels, motels, campgrounds, vacation rentals and other accommodations. It also requires accommodation operators to be licenced.

Staff say there are 28 commercial establishments within the municipality that are subject to the MAT program.
They say in 2022, there were 347 short-term rental accommodation licenses issued to private establishments.
According to staff, that increased in 2023 increased to 370, which included 71 new licenses.
They note, the net increase was 23 licenses. There was a decrease of 48 for non-renewals.
