The former president and director of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation Finance Corporation is now facing fraud-related charges.
Grey Bruce OPP says that the charges stem from an investigation by the Neyaashiinigmiing First Nation Police Service in March of 2021.
The investigation started after a complaint from the Band Councils of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and the Chippewas of Nawash Unceded First Nation regarding irregularities in account activities and expenses paid by the SONFC accounts.
On March 13th, the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch and Grey Bruce Crime Unit arrested 53-year-old Darrell Michael Jacob (Jake) Linklater of Neyaashiinigimiing and charged him with fraud over $5,000, and four counts of making a forged document.
The allegations against him have not been proven. He’s set to appear in court in Owen Sound on April 18th.
