The Bruce County Public Library is offering eclipse glasses this week to help people catch the rare celestial event.
The library says starting April 2, a limited number of eclipse glasses will be available for pick up at any of its branches or the bookmobile before the event on April 8.
People looking to claim their glasses must show a valid library card and be over 14-years-old. A max of two pairs of glasses can be given per household.
The library will also be offering programs leading up to the eclipse. On the PA Day, there will be programs geared to children between the ages of 5 and 12, which will provide fun and educational experiences.
Library Director Brooke Mclean says, “this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, are we are thrilled to be able to provide our patrons with the means to safely participate. By offering solar glasses and organizing programs and viewing events, we hope to make the solar eclipse a memorable experience for everyone involved.”
The library will live stream the eclipse at its branches in Chesley and Port Elgin starting at 2:30 p.m.
More details on eclipse programming can be found on the library website here.
