Bruce County’s long-term care homes have been given the green light to issue a declaration of compliance with provincial regulations.
Both of the county’s homes, Brucelea Haven and Gateway Haven are in compliance with regulations associated with the Long-Term Care Homes Act.
The homes conduct regular audits to ensure they meet regulations.
The county’s director of Long-Term Care Megan Garland, says that Brucelea Haven had an inspection between November 16th and 23rd, 2023, and received one compliance order, as well as 7 written notifications.
Emily Kussman, Brucelea Haven’s Administrator, says that the compliance order was related to a plan of care. She explained that more specifically, it was surrounding the communication between physicians and the home’s interdisciplinary care teams, regarding a change in condition for a resident.
Since that time, the home is now within compliance standards according to a follow-up investigation from the Ministry of Health, which took place February 6-13, but the home was given two written notifications for hand hygiene and masking, but has been brought into compliance since that inspection.
Gateway Haven, meanwhile, did not receive an inspection in the last quarter of 2023.
