Saugeen Shores wants community input as it develops a Cultural Heritage Master Plan.
The Town says the plan will identify cultural heritage resources in the community and make recommendations for their preservation.
According to the province, heritage resources include artifacts or museum collections, buildings or structures, historic streetscapes, parks, trails or archaeological sites among other things.
The Town’s process will include a review of existing protected sites.
The plan is to also come up with ways to evaluate and identify properties of cultural and heritage significance according to provincial criteria under the Heritage Act.
It will also lay out what is the responsibility of the Town under the Ontario Heritage Act and Planning Act.
The Town says it wants to hear about the cultural heritage sites and stories that people in the community feel are important.
