The MS Chi-Cheemaun set off on its sold out spring repositioning cruise Thursday, marking the start of the ferry’s 50th sailing season.
The Chi-Cheemaun first set sail in 1974. This year’s spring sail sold out in under 6 hours.
This year, a 50 years of service decal was installed on the starboard side of the ship to mark the milestone.
There will be a ‘Sail Through Time’ exhibit which will feature artifacts, photos and posters.
On Saturday, June 15th, there will be a Chi-Cheemaun Festival cruise that will include fireworks,
The ship will sail to Tobermory May 2nd, and its season starts with a scheduled trip May 3rd at 8:50 a.m. to Manitoulin Island.
