It’s the lowest jobless number for the Stratford-Bruce Peninsula region in nearly two years.

The transportation and warehousing sector posted the largest job gains, with more than 800 new positions. There were also employment gains in the construction (+700), finance, insurance and real estate (+400), educational services (+300) and forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying and oil (+200) industries.
Jobs were lost in the agriculture (-1,300), professional, scientific and technical services (-300), information, culture and recreation (-100) and accommodation and food services (-100) sectors.
The Stratford-Bruce Peninsula region’s labour force participation rate ticked up slightly to 60.2 per cent in April.
Ontario’s unemployment rate increased to 6.7 per cent last month. Nationally, the number held steady at 6.1 per cent.
