The Billy Bishop Museum is holding its Plaque Return Ceremony this Wednesday.
The ceremony is to celebrate the 2023 Honouring Our Local Veteran inductees.
Dave Alexander, Vice-Chair of the Billy Bishop Board of Directors, says that this is a less formal conclusion to the ceremony held at the end of October, when the memorial plaques are returned to the museum after touring the community.
He adds that those being honoured have ties to Grey and Bruce Counties.
“In most cases, many of them come from here, or they have settled here,” says Alexander. “The one criteria we have is that basically they served with Commonwealth Forces, and now they have a connection to Grey and Bruce Counties.”
The plaques have been touring the community, with stops at the Heritage Mall, the office of MP Alex Ruff, the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library, and Owen Sound District Secondary School.
All members of the community are invited to attend and meet the veterans while the museum celebrates their service to the country.
The event is being held Wednesday, June 26th at 4 pm at the Billy Bishop Museum backyard, weather permitting. Light refreshments will be available.
