Home & Community Support Services (HCSS) Grey Bruce is announcing a new Executive Director.
Board Chair Dave Zago says in a release Stephen Musehl will be taking on the position saying, they are excited to welcome him into this leadership role.
HCSS, according to it website, is an organization which provides community based services and aims to enhance the quality of the daily lives of seniors, adults and families.
Zago notes, “he brings hands-on operational experience, he relates well to the local needs of clients and caregivers, and he has ideas that will advance home and community support services as a core component of the health system for the residents of Grey-Bruce.”
For the past 14 years, Musehl, who was raised in Chesley, spent his time working with other community organizations, with the most recent as the Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society of Grey Bruce.
Musehl says HCSS offers an assortment of services to help people live in their homes and stay in their communities long. Referencing the various programs like Day Away, Hot and Frozen Meals on Wheels, Respite, Transportation, Housekeeping and Volunteer programs, he says he is excited to work with the over 100 staff and 700 volunteers with HCSS to be able to provide these services.
Acknowledging the current Covid pandemic, Musehl says, “the isolation and medical challenges people have faced over the last 14 months has been extremely difficult. HCSS has been able to continue all programs throughout the pandemic, with modifications to ensure client and staff safety of course.”
With Grey Bruce hosting a large demographic base of seniors, Musehl expects a continued increase in demand.
“HCSS services have grown vastly over the past decade,” says Musehl. “Many of our programs continue to grow in numbers due to the increase demand, but we continue to work closely with our funding partners to ensure equitable access to all and find creative ways to support people in the community.”
Musehl notes research has shown people who can access Home & Community Support Services are able to stay at their homes longer, easing the strain on local hospitals and long-term care providers.
Musehl is replacing the previous Executive Director Andy Underwood who announced his retirement in this past Jan. after serving in the position since 2000.
