The Grey Bruce Celebrity Hockey Classic recently held in Port Elgin has raised $160,000 for Easter Seals.
The event, which featured NHL greats including Wendell Clark, Shayne Corson and Brad May and others playing alongside locals was held Friday, March 3rd at the Plex in Port Elgin.
It also included a dinner and NHL hot stove the evening before.
Easter Seals advocates for children with physical disabilities, operate summer camps for them, fundraises for their accessibility and mobility equipment and participates in government consultations on issues affecting people with physical disabilities.
Numerous local teams raised funds to take part in the event.
A local company called Strategic Way Consulting also partnered in the event to collect donations of hockey equipment for Indigenous youth. They’re holding another equipment drive this Saturday at the Bayshore Community Centre when the OHL’s Owen Sound Attack host the Oshawa Generals.
