The Bruce County Public Library is looking to provide a Bookmobile to residents who can’t make it to the library.
In 2022, the program was able to serve more than 21,000 library cardholders and their families, and the Library says that they want to be able to provide that same service to those who can’t make it into one of their branches.
The BCPL says that with a Bookmobile, they’ll be able to reach people in remote communities, help fight senior isolation, and remove transportation and financial barriers through a mobile service.
The Bruce County Public Library says they’ve purchased a vehicle and are hoping it can be modified and be ready to go this summer.
They also say that their mobile library service would allow people to register for a library card, check out and return materials, and participate in in-person programming.
They would also offer a wi-fi enabled hub to patrons.
